Friend I write these lines to give you the reasons that I choose this breed hound podenco, and none other than him to be a companion during my hunting, since my childhood, I accompanied my grandfather, who always carried one or two hounds podenco, that is the number of dogs that he has always, and after his death I continued his career as a hunter, and always has been with hound podenco.
Why the hound podenco? in the city where I was born and lives Tangier, it was international and lived in it a mixture of cultures, English Portuguese Spanish German French ...
And all these nationalities exercising the activity of hunting, and they all had dogs but hounds were setters pointers Bragos beagle, dogs shows, but the original people of this city ,also practiced hunting with hound but with the podenco, they knew the treasure they had ,Sometimes people have seen mentioned before returning to their cars with no chase, unlike all those people ho had hounds podenco had hunted many chase.

Once a Podenco, Always a Podenco!

I had two small dogs and I wanted to try to have a bigger one too. But I knew I couldn’t handle a big and heavy dog, so I started to look around on the sighthounds, especially on Galgo Español. I quickly realized that they were not what I was searching for. I wanted a dog that should be able to work with me on agiliy. Then I found the podencoids. I immediately fell in love with their breathtaking beauty.
When I was told about a hunting podenco in Sweden with the most enchanting eyes I ever seen, there were no turn about for me. Here the saga ended for me and the hell broke loose. I was crying and my husband was mad as hell. I was actually thinking of finding her a new home. She chewed on everything. For ex. Three pairs of eyeglasses and a sofa. She was high and low. Hyper active. But who could handle a dog like this? None that I knew. But my salvation came in the shape of the Spanish podenco forum El podenquero. The hunters there helped me to understand this fairylike killing machine.
Now I have two podencos in my house and I can’t think of never having one. To meet their eyes when they are satisfied with life and with me is the biggest happiness ever. To have a podenco in the house is a big challenge but they give so much in return so it is worth all the extra work. Their intense joy of life and the love they spread around them I have never felt with another breed. Of course it exist there too, but my podencos have added an extra dimension to it. I can only say: Once a Podenco, Always a Podenco!

Ibizan Hounds

The thing I love most about Ibizan Hounds in their sense of humor. They will always make you laugh with their antics. Even as they get older they always keep some of the puppy in them. I also love how athletic they are. They are beautiful to watch running, leaping, and trotting around in the yard. To me they are the whole package...fun, athletic, affectionate, goofy, and elegant.
